In Photos: The Amazing Annapurna Circuit

Of all the Himalayan treks I’ve been on, Annapurna Circuit was the most comfortable.  As if the gorgeous views of the amazing Annapurna Circuit were not enough, the trail is dotted with teahouses. You can tease your palate with cuisines from around the world and retire to bed warm and cosy. Yes, you heard that right. You can travel carrying literally nothing and buy dirt cheap travel equipment, including North Face gear. Stores are located all along the trail.

The Annapurna Circuit is part of the Annapurna Mountain range of the Himalayas in central Nepal.

While you are in the company of the Himalayas, inner peace comes naturally. The hardship I went through climbing these godlike mountains was perfectly justified when I found myself meditating without fighting thoughts. To have the stunning views of snow peaks, gorges, streams, yaks, horses, pine trees and immense peace and quiet at my disposal is what I call Nirvana. This is exactly why the Himalayas are synonymous with renunciation. When you are up there, you are really UP there. Everything else in life seems insignificant.

  1. WoW!! Thats the only word I could think of right now. Not sure though what is more beautiful, you pictures or your zeal to explore. For some reason while looking at you the picture I could smell the nature and feel the chill of hills. Just when I was forgetting about Northern mountains and falling in love with ghats and RFs of South your pics reversed all that.

  2. Hi Mamta, when I saw d pics of Annapurna on yahoo and read ur comments and observations, I thought this is a grown up woman with loads of experience and spiritual inclination. When I followed the link to your website, I found an adventurous traveller and a humourous writer as well ! Must say that managing both the aspects (specially laughing on oneself) alongwith a demanding job in today’s world/life is awesome and inspiring. Do you practice something in your personal life to maintain that state of life, or is it natural ? Also, when u talk about the majesticity, serenity and tranquility inducing state of Himalayas, I couldn’t agree more. I have myself been to different mountain ranges, but there is something about the Himalayas which is unmatched and different from the rest of the world.

  3. Thank you Saurabh! Very kind of you to say that. I used to meditate so I can connect to that state of mind/being from time to time through the things I do. 🙂 And in the Himalayas it happens naturally to me.
