About me

Dec 23rd, 2013

Equestrian and Wildlife enthusiast with a nomadic heart, that’s Mamta Naidu

Mamta Naidu

Travelling has taught me more about life than years of formal education. I’ve met many inspiring people during my travels who taught me about minimalistic and sustainable living. I believe the world is a beautiful place, full of good people. My goal here is to share my experiences on this beautiful planet.

High on life and coconut water and nothing else, much to my parents’ relief.

Ever since I was little I was a wildlife enthusiast, so much so that I even reared chicks of a hen under my bed for half a day, then they cheeped like crazy and my parents found out. When my parents discovered my love for snakes and horses, they realised that they should have just let me rear chicks under my bed.

Although I believe in world peace through nonviolent means, I have been bitten by a monkey, snake, tortoise, swan, wasp, dog, sandflies, leeches, ticks, whacked by a crocodile, head-butted by a sheep, bitten by and bucked off (several times) a horse.

Reduce, recycle, reuse is my rallying cry.  I have a thing for villages and barns and to live the life of a nomad and a farmer for a while is my desire. Psst! Another scandalous desire of mine is Johnny Depp.

Globe trotted solo while literally getting lost and finding myself in some cities/towns/villages. You can read one such story here, and see some pictures here.

I’m passionate about Horses, Horse riding, Writing, Photography, Herps, and trekking in the mighty Himalayas.

Some of my work appeared in The Hindu,  Saevus  Yahoo Lifestyle, and Caleidoscope.
