In photos: Amazing Nepali Women Who Inspired Me Through My Annapurna Trek

Young or old, happy or sad, rich or poor, working or playing, Nepali women, they are all so beautiful and a few thoroughly inspiring.  I met many women and had several enriching conversations during my 12-day Annapurna Cicuit trek

Nepal being a patriarchal society I always thought women lead a very difficult life. However, some of the wonderful women I met along the trail changed the idea for good.  Women in Nepal have a very strong hold in their family lives and fend for their families working alongside men.  Except for the porter job, I’ve seen women doing all kinds of jobs: from selling souvenirs to rowing boats to managing teahouses to working in government/private sectors.

While I brag for several weeks about walking 4km around pretty parks in a big city, 60 yr old women walking 20km for work every weekend, not to mention, steep uphill climb in freezing temperatures is a routine for some women. And what’s commendable is that they seem to have no complaints.

While the grandeur of the mighty Himalayas kept me under its spell, I was equally fascinated by the beautiful Nepali women for their positive attitude towards life.

These beautiful Nepali women and their inspiring stories made my trip all the more enjoyable.
